Florian Stalder (born September 13, 1982 in Lenk ) is a former Swiss cyclist .

Career

Florian Stalder contested his first bike race, which he won straight away, at the age of 14. In 2001 Stalder became a U23 driver and took part in the World Championships in Hamilton and Verona , among others . At the GP Tell 2004 he won the points classification and was fourth in the overall classification.

In 2005 he received a contract with the Czech Ed 'System ZVVZ team. He finished seventh at the Swiss Road Championships and ninth at the Rhineland-Palatinate Tour

In 2006 Stalder signed a contract with the Swiss Phonak Cycling Team . At the Tour of Austria 2006 , Stalder took the lead in the mountain classification on the first stage , which he had to surrender the following day, and the jersey of the best sprinter, which he won. He was also used on his first three-week tour of the country, the Vuelta a España . He finished the race 73rd.

In 2007, Stalder moved to the Austrian Professional Continental Team Volksbank . When he first took part in the Tour de Suisse in 2007, he immediately won the overall classification of the AXA-Winterthur sprint classification. Stalder celebrated the greatest success in a one-day race in his still young career on September 1, 2007 when he was only thinly beaten by the Italian Alessandro Bertolini in the semi-classic Giro del Veneto and took second place. At the end of the 2010 season he ended his career as he could not get a new contract with BMC or another team. In his last race, a criterion in Montreux , he finished fifth.
