history

Team BMC Racing ( California Tour 2013 )

The team was founded in 2007 as the BMC Racing Team and received a UCI license as the American Continental Team , with which it mainly participated in races on the UCI America and Europe Tour . The Swiss bicycle manufacturer BMC supported the team from its inception as a name sponsor and material supplier. For the 2008 season, the BMC Racing Team was upgraded to the Professional Continental Team . The team received a ProTeam license since 2011 and was therefore entitled and obliged to start in all races of the UCI WorldTour . With the victory of the Tour de France 2011 , Cadel Evans secured the team's greatest success to date.

After the owner of BMC, Andy Rihs, passed away in spring 2018 , the company announced that it would end its commitment to the team at the end of the year. In August, the team operator Continuum Sports announced that the Polish shoe and bag manufacturer CCC , previously the main sponsor of the Polish team CCC Sprandi Polkowice, would become the team's name sponsor in 2019. The team was registered as a Polish team under the name CCC Team for the 2019 season .

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the main sponsor CCC , the team suspended most of the contracts of team employees for the remainder of the season from April 2020 and announced that it would drastically reduce driver salaries. The reason given was that the business of the sponsor CCC had collapsed due to the pandemic. In mid-May 2020 it became known that the drivers were foregoing 50% of their salaries in order to keep the team going in 2020. However, the main sponsor CCC will end its commitment at the end of the 2020 season and thus one year earlier than agreed.
