Kristof Vandewalle
Kristof Vandewalle (born April 5, 1985 in Kortrijk ) is a former Belgian cyclist .
Kristof Vandewalle won the Gouden Fiets Eddy Merckx junior race in 2001. In 2003 he won two stages in the Route de l'Avenir and was able to win the overall standings. In the 2006 season he was first in the overall ranking of the Tweedaagse van de Gaverstreek. In the Tour de l'Avenir 2007 Vandewalle won the third stage.
In 2008 he got a contract with Topsport Vlaanderen-Mercator . For this team he won the Grand Prix of the Canton of Aargau in 2010 . In 2011 he switched to Omega Pharma-Lotto . At the Vuelta a España 2011 he finished second behind Francesco Gavazzi on the 17th stage after Noja . In 2012, Vandewalle became Belgian champion in the individual time trial . He also won the world title with the team in the team time trial at the 2012 World Cup in Valkenburg .
In 2013 he took overall victory in the Three Days of West Flanders . In addition, a stage won in the same race. He also defended his title as Belgian individual time trial champion and also defended the team time trial title in Florence .
At the end of the 2013 season he left Omega Pharma-Quickstep , as it was now called, and switched to Trek Factory Racing . Vandewalle won the individual time trials at the Tour of Poland and the Tour of Austria . He again defended the title of Belgian individual time trial champion. 2015 was followed by another victory in the team time trial at the Tour of Alberta in Canada .
At the end of 2015 he announced his retirement from cycling.
