Deceuninck-Quick-Step is a Belgian cycling team based in Luxembourg , founded in 2003 under the name Quick Step-Davitamon .

history

The team originally emerged in 2003 from the former teams Domo-Farm Frites and Mapei . In 2005 she received a license as a UCI ProTeam (since 2015: UCI WorldTeam)

On June 8, 2008, Quick Step left the AIGCP Professional Association . This step was justified by the massive differences in budgets and standards between the professional teams; However, the team is currently a member of the AIGCP.

In November 2010 the operating company Esperanza bvba announced that Zdeněk Bakala , a Czech investor, and Bessel Kok, a Dutch businessman, had taken over the majority of the shares and guaranteed a liquidity guarantee for the next three years.

At the end of the 2011 season, the team was merged with the Omega Pharma-Lotto team , although it was originally said that the operating company of Omega Pharma-Lotto, Belgian Cycling Company sa , would take over the management of the joint team; However, the joint team not only took over the majority of the riders and staff of the Quick Step Cycling Team , but also operated under the address of the operator Esperanza bvba . At the beginning of the 2014 season, Patrick Lefevere relocated the operating company to Luxembourg under the name Decolef lux sarl . For the 2015 season, etixx , a manufacturer of dietary supplements belonging to the Omega Pharma Group , took over the name sponsorship.

Quick-Step Floors is a product ( laminate floors ) from the Belgian company Unilin BVBA from Wielsbeke . Deceuninck manufactures windows, among other things.

The team traditionally specializes in classic one-day races . His greatest successes include winning the overall World Cup rankings in 2003 and 2004 by Paolo Bettini and Tom Boonen's victories in 2005 in the Tour of Flanders and at Paris-Roubaix . Boonen won Paris-Roubaix again in 2008, 2009 and 2012. In total, the team (as of March 2019) won seventeen cycling monuments , making it the most successful of all UCI WorldTeams still in existence in 2019. The team won the team classification of the UCI World Tour 2018 .
