Tour de l'Ain
The Tour de l'Ain is a French cycling race .
The stage race is held annually in August in the French department of Ain . Maurice Josserand, Dante Lavacca and Armand Peracca created the Tour de l'Ain as the successor to the Prix de l'Amitié . Initially it had UCI status 2.5 until it was upgraded to 2.3 in 2002. The tour has been part of the UCI Europe Tour since 2005 and is classified in category 2.1.
For the more difficult stages, the Tour de l'Ain goes into the Jura Mountains . The Grand Colombier has been a mountain since 1999 and is a regular part of the tour.
