Laurent Biondi (born July 19, 1959 in Grenoble ) is a former French cyclist , world champion and current sports director .

He won his first championship medal in 1981 when he was third in the team pursuit at the French rail championships . Laurent Biondi was a versatile cyclist, on the road and on the track . In 1982 he became French road champion for amateurs and championship in points driving on the track. Then he went over to the professionals. In 1987 he took second place in the French championships in the single pursuit and in the derny race on the track . In 1988 he became national champion in points racing , in 1990 vice European champion in two-man team driving , together with Philippe Tarantini , and in 1991 vice European champion in Derny.

In 1990 Biondi won the world championship in points race in Maebashi, Japan . Laurent Biondi drove the Tour de France six times as a noble helper, without being able to achieve any major successes of his own.

Biondi also started 40 six-day races, of which he was able to win three, in 1989 in Bordeaux with Pierangelo Bincoletto , in 1990 in Grenoble with Laurent Fignon and in 1991 with Gilbert Duclos-Lassalle again in Bordeaux.

In 1993 Laurent Biondi resigned as an active cyclist. He later became sports director of the team AG2R and as such in 2004 in the doping Fund of Pot Belge involved. He was subsequently sentenced to three months probation, but always protested his innocence. At the beginning of May 2007 he was acquitted in a new procedure and then taken back to "ag2r".
