Richard Podesta

Richard Podesta (born March 1, 1948 in Rueil-Malmaison ) is a former French cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

In 1966 he was the Île-de-France champion in the juniors , this was his first major success. He then became a member of the ACBB Paris club , where Régis Ovion also drove. He won the Tour du Béarn Aragon and the overall ranking of the Trophée Peugeot (an annual ranking for national amateurs ). He won the title of French amateur champion in 1971, ahead of Marcel Duchemin . At the Tour de l'Yonne in the same year he was third. In 1972 he moved to the Sprinter Club de Nice, a year later he became a professional driver in the De Kova-Lejeune team , in which Lucien Aimar was the captain. In his first year as a professional, he won the junior competition on the Paris – Nice long-distance journey . He rode the Tour de France in July , but had to give up on the 11th stage. He was also at the start of some of the monuments of cycling without achieving a top position.
