Regis Ovion

Régis Ovion (born March 3, 1949 in Vigneux-sur-Seine ) is a former French cyclist and world champion.

In 1970 Régis Ovion won the Tour de la Guadeloupe and in 1970 and 1971 the Route de France , and in 1971 the Tour de l'Avenir . In 1971 he was in Mendrisio world champion of amateurs in the road race . He had previously won his first national title when he won the French team pursuit championship with his team. In 1972 Ovion started at the Olympic Games in Munich in the road race and finished 15th. In the same year he won the Circuit Cycliste Sarthe .

Then Ovion went over to the professionals . In 1975 he became French road champion. In 1978 he won Paris-Bourges . He started eight times in the Tour de France ; his best placement was tenth in 1973 . In 1982 he ended his cycling career.

In 1971 Régis Ovion was elected Champion des champions (“Sportsman of the Year”) in France .
