Christophe Capelle (born August 15, 1967 in Compiègne ) is a former French cyclist .

Even as an amateur , the versatile Christophe Capelle was an internationally successful cyclist. In 1990 he won the Hessen Tour . Twice (1989 and 1990) he represented the French selection at the International Peace Tour . He achieved his best result with place 53 in 1990. He turned professional in 1991 and took second place the following year at Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne . In 1996 he won the gold medal in the team pursuit at the Olympic Games in Atlanta together with Philippe Ermenault , Jean-Michel Monin and Francis Moreau . In 2000 he became French road racing champion, and at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he finished tenth in the two-man team driving , together with Robert Sassone .

Capelle also started six times in the Tour de France without a top position in the overall standings; the most outstanding result was his third place in the points classification at the 1999 Tour de France .

In 2002 Christophe Capelle ended his active cycling career and graduated from the École supérieure de commerce d'Amiens.
