Reno Bent Olsen (born February 19, 1947 in Roskilde ) is a former Danish cyclist . He achieved his greatest successes on the track .

Life

In 1968 Reno Olsen won the gold medal in the team pursuit at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , together with Per Lyngemark , Gunnar Asmussen , Peder Pedersen and Mogens Frey . In the final, the Danish four-man won against the West German team, as the German four-man, while in the lead, had been disqualified in the last round for "unauthorized pushing".

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , Olsen started in two disciplines. In the team pursuit, this time with Svend Erik Bjerg , Gunnar Asmussen and Bent Pedersen , he missed the quarter-finals with a 13th place in qualification. In the single pursuit , Olsen also reached 13th place in the qualification and thus also missed the quarter-finals here.

Olsen won eight national titles on the track in his career. In 1966, 1967, 1968, 1972 and 1973 he was Danish champion in the team pursuit and in 1971, 1972 and 1973 in the individual pursuit. In the team pursuit titles he drove in 1966 and 1967 together with Jan Ingstrup Mikkelsen , Preben Isaksson and Erling Laursen , 1968 with Mogens Frey , Per Lyngemark and Peder Pedersen , 1972 with Bent Pedersen , Per Lyngemark and Svend Erik Bjerg and 1973 with Ivar Jakobsen , Bjarne Sørensen and Finn Clausen .

On the road , Olsen secured four national titles. He won the individual time trial in 1972 and won three titles in 1973 - in the road race , in the individual time trial and together with Junker Jørgensen , Ove Jensen and Niels Pedersen in the team time trial .
