Mino De Rossi

Mino De Rossi (born May 21, 1931 in Arquata Scrivia ) is a former Italian cyclist , world champion and Olympic champion.

In 1951, Mino De Rossi became the amateur world champion in the singles pursuit . The following year he was Olympic champion in the team pursuit in Helsinki , together with Marino Morettini , Guido Messina and Loris Campana . In addition, he won the title of runner-up world champion in pursuit at the track world championships in Paris in 1952 , which, however, did not meet his expectations: Before the final, which he lost to the Dutchman Piet van Heusden , he was so successful from his own was convinced that he had already distributed autograph cards with the inscription "Weltmeister 1951/1952".

De Rossi then moved on to the professionals, drove numerous classics , but did not get beyond a third place in the Tour of Lombardy in 1954. Between 1957 and 1965 he also competed in 48 six-day races, of which he won two: 1959 in Buenos Aires with Jorge Bátiz and 1963 in Montreal with Ferdinando Terruzzi . In 1967 De Rossi ended his cycling career.
