Roger Rioland

Roger Rioland (born October 24, 1924 in Vitry-sur-Seine ; † March 23, 2018 ) was a French cyclist and world champion.

In 1946 Roger Rioland became world champion in the single pursuit of amateurs in Zurich . The following year he became French champion in this discipline and won the Critérium du Center road race . He started for the "Athletic Club de Boulogne-Billancourt ACBB".

In 1948 Rioland went to the pros and was three times French champion in the single pursuit in the following years. In the early 1950s he also turned to the standing sport and was national runner-up three times between 1953 and 1955. In 1956 he ended his career.

Later Roger Rioland was active in his association "Vélo Sportif Villecresnois" and in the "Comité départemental de Cyclotourisme du Val de Marne" for cycling tourism.

In 2008 Rioland was awarded the “Médaille d'Or de la Jeunesse et des Sports”.
