Knud E. Andersen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Knud Erik Andersen (born January 5, 1922 in Copenhagen ; † November 14, 1997 ) was a Danish cyclist and world champion.

In 1949 Knud Andersen became world champion of the amateurs in the single pursuit in Ordrup near Copenhagen . A total of eight times between 1942 and 1952 he was Danish amateur champion, twice in road races and six times in pursuit on the track . In 1949 he also won the Nordic championships in pursuit and in the team classification. He was by far the most successful Danish amateur of the season with nine wins in races in Denmark.

In later years the German magazine Radsport wrote that Andersen, actually a trained cook, was actually a road racer, but because he was not considered for the national team, he switched to track cycling “out of anger”.
