Charles Gustave Léonce Coste (born February 8, 1924 in Ollioules ) is a former French cyclist and Olympic champion in cycling .
In 1947 Charles Coste became French amateur champion in the single pursuit . The following year he was together with Pierre Adam , Serge Blusson and Fernand Decanali at the Olympic Games in London Olympic champion in the team pursuit . In the same year he finished third in the single pursuit of the amateurs at the World Railroad Championships . He had previously won the French championship in team pursuit with his club VC de Lavallois .
From 1949 to 1959 Coste was a professional and mainly competed in road races. In 1949 he won the Grand Prix des Nations , 1953 Paris – Limoges and the Monaco Tour . In 1950 he finished fourth at Paris-Roubaix . He started three times at the Giro d'Italia , his best result was 40th place in 1956 . In 1952 and 1957 he took part in the Tour de France , but gave up both times early.
