Michael Grenda

Michael Ronald Grenda (born April 24, 1962 ) is a retired Australian cyclist .

In 1982 Michael Grenda won gold in the team pursuit at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane , with Kevin Nichols , Michael Turtur and Gary West . Two years later he was at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles Olympic champion in the same discipline, with Nichols, Turtur and Dean Woods . In the single pursuit , he finished eighth.

Grenda also drove a few six-day races . From 1986 to 1991 he was a professional, but without any major success.

Michael Grenda comes from a cycling family: his great-uncle Alfred Grenda was a star in six-day races in North America before the First World War . His father Ronald Grenda was also a cyclist, and his son Ben Grenda was already a successful cyclist. He is the holder of the Order of Australia .
