Bradley McGee
Bradley John McGee (born February 24, 1976 in Sydney , Australia ) is a former Australian cyclist and current cycling trainer. As an active cyclist, he was Olympic champion and two-time world champion on the track . As a professional, he won several international races in road cycling .
Athletic career
Bradley McGee's greatest successes as an amateur were the two gold medals at the Junior World Track Championships in 1993 and 1994. Since 1998 he has been a professional racing driver with Française des Jeux . In 2003 he won the prologue at the 2003 Tour de France and wore the yellow jersey for two days. He was also victorious in the prologue of the 2004 Giro d'Italia and defended the pink jersey for two days.
1996, at the Summer Games in Atlanta , McGee won two bronze medals ( On the one and team pursuit ). At the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney , he also won the bronze medal in the singles pursuit. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , he won silver in the singles and gold in the team pursuit.
McGee was also successful at the Commonwealth Games : In 1994 he won gold in the single pursuit as well as in the team pursuit. In 1998 he was able to defend both titles. In 2002 he took gold in the one's pursuit.
In 2004 Bradley McGee achieved overall victory at the Route du Sud . The following year he won the points classification at the Tour de Suisse in 2005 and wore the gold jersey of the Vuelta a España 2005 for four days . He proved himself to be a prologue specialist at the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré in 2002 and the Tour de Romandie in 2004.
Bradley McGee ended his career at the end of the 2008 season and moved to the sporting direction of the Saxo Bank team , where he remained until the end of 2012. Since the beginning of 2013 he has been the head coach for cycling at the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS).
