Alexander Edmondson (born December 22, 1993 in Miri , Malaysia ) is an Australian track cyclist .

Athletic career

After Alexander Edmondson was runner-up in national championships twice as a junior driver in 2009, in points and in team pursuit , he became world champion in team pursuit at the 2011 Junior Track World Championships in Moscow , together with Jack Cummings , Jackson Law and Alexander Morgan as well as in Two-man team driving with Law. In the same year he was already the Australian champion in this discipline, with Rohan Dennis , Damien Howson and Glenn O'Shea .

At the first round of the Track Cycling World Cup 2011/2012 in Astana , Kazakhstan , Edmondson won the two-man team race with O'Shea and finished second in the team pursuit, together with O'Shea, Michael Freiberg and Mitchell Mulhern . In 2013 Edmondson became world champion in team pursuit in Minsk , together with O'Shea, Morgan and Michael Hepburn .

Alexander Edmondson is a younger brother of cyclist Annette Edmondson . Both were nominated for the 2012 Olympic Games in London , making them the first sibling pair from Australia to compete in cycling at the same Games. The siblings were both nominated for participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . Alexander Edmondson won the silver medal in the team pursuit together with Jack Bobridge , Michael Hepburn and Sam Welsford .
