Lasse Norman Hansen (born February 11, 1992 in Faaborg ) is a Danish track and road cyclist and Olympic champion.
Athletic career
Lasse Norman Hansen was Danish champion in scratch and single pursuit in the junior class on the track in 2008 . In the following year he won four junior titles: in the team pursuit , in the points trial , in the 1000 m time trial and in the scratch. In 2010 he was again successful in the junior team pursuit. At the Danish Elite Track Cycling Championships, he won the 1000 m time trial and the Omnium . At the UCI Track World Championships 2010 in Copenhagen , Hansen was 8th in the single pursuit of the elite class. At the Junior World Championships in Moscow he was first in the single pursuit. In the 2011 season he was successful together with Christian Kreutzfeldt at the UIV Cup in Copenhagen.
In 2008, Lasse Norman Hansen won a stage of the ASVÖ cycling youth tour on the road. The next year he was successful in the junior class in the Sjællandsmesterskab individual time trial. In the Youth Tour he won the prologue and another stage. He was also Danish champion in the individual time trial and road race, he was first in the overall ranking at the Lower Saxony Tour and won the bronze medal in the individual time trial of the Junior World Championships. In the 2010 season he won a stage at the Tour de Himmelfart, the Danish time trial championship, two stages at the GP Rüebliland and one stage and the overall ranking of the Tour du Pays de Vaud. In 2100 he won his country's U23 road championship.
At the UCI Track World Championships in Melbourne in 2012 , Hansen was third in the Omnium . In August of the same year he won the gold medal in the same discipline at the Olympic Games in London. At the UCI Track World Championships 2013 in Minsk , Hansen took third place in the team pursuit, together with Casper Folsach , Rasmus Christian Quaade and Mathias Møller ; in the Omnium he was runner-up in the world championship.
In 2016, Lasse Norman Hansen was nominated for participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he won a bronze medal in the Omnium as well as in the team pursuit together with Rasmus Christian Quaade , Niklas Larsen , Casper von Folsach , Frederik Madsen and Casper Pedersen . After winning three gold medals in races of the Track Cycling World Cup in 2018/19 , he won silver at the UCI Track World Championships in 2019 with Casper von Folsach and bronze with Julius Johansen , Rasmus Pedersen , Casper von Folsach and Niklas Larsen in the team pursuit.
At the UCI Track World Championships 2020 in Berlin , Norman Hansen became two-time world champion: with Michael Mørkøv in the Madison and with Julius Johansen , Frederik Madsen and Rasmus Pedersen in the team pursuit.
Honors
In November 2012 Hansen was voted Denmark's Cyclist of the Year. At the beginning of January 2013, he was named Denmark's Sportsman of the Year 2012 .
