Mathias Møller Nielsen (born March 19, 1994 ) is a former Danish cyclist who was active on the road and track .

Athletic career

Mathias Møller Nielsen was three times - 2010, 2011 and 2012 - Danish runner-up in the junior team pursuit . In the same year he finished eighth in the overall ranking of the Tour de Himmelfart , a race for juniors. In 2011 he competed with Alexander Hjortnæs in a two-man team and came third. At the Danish championship in the individual time trial on the road, he was ninth.

In 2012 Møller Nielsen started in the team pursuit at the Olympic Games in London , but only drove his team's race for fifth place, which was won by the Danish four-man ( Michael Mørkøv , Rasmus Christian Quaade , Casper von Folsach ). In the same year he won the title of European Junior Team Pursuit Champion , together with Elias Helleskov Busk , Mathias Krigbaum and Jonas Poulsen , and together with von Folsach, Hansen and Quaade won the team pursuit at the Track Cycling World Cup in Glasgow in 2012/13 .

At the UCI Track World Championships 2013 in Minsk , Møller took third place in the team pursuit, together with Casper Folsach, Rasmus Christian Quaade and Lasse Norman Hansen . He ended his cycling career at the end of 2014 after he was diagnosed with cancer . This could be treated successfully, but he did not return to competitive sports.
