Dylan Kennett (born December 8, 1994 in Christchurch ) is a New Zealand cyclist on track and road .
Athletic career
In 2010 Dylan Kennett started at the New Zealand Track Championships in the U17 category in six different disciplines and won five gold medals. He also set a new national record in his age group over 500 meters. In the following year he won four gold, two silver and one bronze medals in the U19 class. In 2011, Kennett finished third in the Omnium and in the team pursuit at the UCI World Junior Championships 2011 in Moscow , together with Scott Creighton , Alex Frame and Fraser Gough . The following year he stood on the podium in four different disciplines at the Junior World Track Championships in Invercargill : in the single pursuit , in the 1000-meter time trial and in the team pursuit (with Liam Aitcheson , Hayden McCormick and Hamish Schreurs ), he finished second in each case Two-man team driving with McCormick third.
In November 2012, Kennett started in the international elite for the first time and finished fourth in the single pursuit at the Track Cycling World Cup in Glasgow . In July 2013 he won the six-day race in Fiorenzuola d'Arda with Shane Archbold and was New Zealand champion in the team pursuit with Archbold, Marc Ryan and Andy Van der Heyden . In addition, he was two-time Oceania champion, in scratch and in team pursuit (with Pieter Bulling , Aaron Gate and Marc Ryan)
In 2016 Dylan Kennett was nominated for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he finished eighth in the Omnium. At the Irish race An Post Rás he spent two days in the leadership jersey of the junior classification. The following year he was again Oceania champion in the single pursuit and was also five-time New Zealand champion. At the 2017 UCI Track World Championships in Hong Kong , he was runner-up in the team pursuit together with Regan Gough , Pieter Bulling and Nick Kergozou .
In 2019, Kennett won the Tour of Taihu Lake . In 2020 he won a stage and the points classification of the New Zealand Cycle Classic was third in the national championship in the individual time trial .
Honors
In 2011 Dylan Kennett received the Levin Award for best driver in his age group at the New Zealand Track Championships. In February 2012, he was named New Zealand's Junior Track Rider of the Year .
