Jens-Erik Madsen (born March 30, 1981 in Randers ) is a former Danish cyclist .

Athletic career

Jens-Erik Madsen began his international road career in 2004 with the Danish cycling team Glud & Marstrand . At the 2006/07 Track Cycling World Cup in Sydney and Los Angeles, he was second in the team pursuit with the Danish national team . In March 2007 he took third place with the Danish track four at the Track Cycling World Championships in Palma de Mallorca. After 14 years (World Championship bronze 1993), a Danish team again won a medal at world championships in this supreme cycling discipline. In March 2008, the Danish four-man with Madsen won the silver medal at the World Track Cycling Championships in Manchester after setting a new world record with 3: 57.734 in qualifying, the third-best time ever. A few months later, the Danish team with Madsen won the silver medal in the team pursuit at the Olympic Games in Beijing , together with Alex Rasmussen , Michael Mørkøv and Casper Jørgensen .

In 2012 Madsen ended his active career and the following year he became sporting director at Team TreFor , where he worked until 2014.

Honors

In 2008 and 2009, Jens-Erik Madsen was named a member of the Danish four-wheel Danish cyclist of the year .
