Casper Jørgensen (born August 20, 1985 in Årslev ) is a Danish cycling coach and former racing cyclist .

Athletic career

After Casper Jørgensen had become three times champion in the team pursuit at national level , he won the round of the World Cup 2005/06 in Sydney with the Danish foursome . The following year, the four from Jørgensen, Jens-Erik Madsen , Michael Mørkøv and Alex Rasmussen, under the leadership of German coach Heiko Salzwedel, took third place at the World Cup .

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 Casper Jørgensen, Michael Færk Christensen , Jens-Erik Madsen and Alex Rasmussen won the silver medal in the team pursuit with a new national record time of 3: 56.802 minutes after the Danish four-man had become vice world champion in Manchester in March . In 2009 Jørgensen, Michael Færk Christensen, Jens-Erik Madsen, Alex Rasmussen and Michael Mørkøv became vice world champions in the team pursuit.

Casper Jørgensen was five times Danish champion in the team pursuit from 2003 to 2007. He was also twice national champion in scratch and on the road in the team time trial . In 2007 Guillaume Tell won a stage of the Grand Prix , in 2008 the prologue of the Olympia's Tour and in 2009 the prologue of the Tour du Loir-et-Cher .

Professional

Due to persistent knee problems, Casper Jørgensen ended his cycling career in 2010. He then became an assistant to the then national coach Sven Meyer . After Meyer's departure, Jørgensen took over his post. Since then, under his aegis, the Danish four-man has made it onto the podium several times at world championships , and the team won bronze at the 2016 Olympic Games .
