Mauro Trentini (born September 12, 1975 in Trento ) is a former Italian cyclist .

In 1993 Mauro Trentini was junior runner-up in the points race . In 1996 he became world champion in the team pursuit with the Italian track four ( Adler Capelli , Cristiano Citton and Andrea Collinelli ) at the track world championships in Manchester . The team set a new world record in the semi-finals with 4: 00.958 minutes. At the Olympic Games in Atlanta in the same year, the Italian four-man finished fourth. In 1999, Trentini was third in the single pursuit at the World Railroad Championships in Berlin . Shortly before the 2000 Olympic Games , Trentini's hematocrit value was found to be too high during a training check, which is why he did not start in Sydney .
