GP Rüebliland
The GP Rüebliland is a renowned road cycling competition for juniors in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. It has been held since 1977 and is the only international stage race for juniors in Switzerland. Among the winners are numerous racing cyclists who later became successful in the elite.
In 1977 the GP Rüebliland was organized for the first time by the SRB Aargau Cantonal Association. For financial reasons, the IG GP Rüebliland was founded after three years and took over the organization. For several years the race has been part of the UCI category MJ2.1. It is held annually at the end of August / beginning of September, takes place over four stages over three days and serves as preparation for the junior road race at the world championships . The field of drivers usually consists of around 25 teams with six drivers. National teams from Europe and overseas as well as Swiss cantonal and regional teams take part. The rankings of the teams are included in a separate evaluation.
Gerrit de Vries from the Netherlands is the only racing driver to date to have won the race twice. (As of 2018)
The name Rüebliland has been in use since the middle of the 19th century for the Bernese Aargau , the classic beet growing area in Switzerland.
