Beat Zberg (born May 10, 1971 in Altdorf UR , Switzerland ) is a former Swiss cyclist .

Career

The 1.79 m tall and 72 kg heavy Zberg became a professional in 1992. In 1996 he won the race around the Henninger Tower and was able to celebrate stage victories at the Vuelta a España (2001), the Tour of the Basque Country (2002, 2004) and at the Catalan Week (2003). He started eight times in the Tour de France . At the Tour de Suisse , he finished seventh overall in 2005 . In 2007, Zberg became Swiss champion for the first time with over two minutes ahead of the pursuers. In August 2007 Zberg then won the first stage of the Tour de l'Ain and defended the lead until the penultimate day.

Beat Zberg is the brother of the equally successful cyclists Luzia Zberg and Markus Zberg .

Today Zberg works at IMG as route coordinator for the Tour de Suisse .
