Wolfgang Steinmayr (born September 6, 1944 , Innsbruck ) is a former Austrian cyclist .
Athletic career
Steinmayr was one of the most successful Austrian cyclists. In total, he was able to win the Tour of Austria four times, and thus more often than anyone else . During the Tour of Austria in 1972 and 1975 he was the Großglockner King , ie he was the first to cross the Großglockner on the stage. He was considered an excellent mountain climber and was able to win the mountain classification three times in the Austrian round trip. In 1972 (in Munich ) and 1976 (in Montreal ) he started for Austria at the Olympic Games , but did not get beyond the 55th or 27th place there. At the Tour de l'Avenir In 1973 and 1974 he took second place in the overall ranking.
