Maurizio Vandelli (born August 9, 1964 in Modena ) is a former Italian cyclist . His brother Claudio, who was three years older than him, and also a successful cyclist, won the gold medal in the team time trial at the 1984 Summer Olympics .

At the beginning of his career he also competed in cyclo-cross races . In this discipline he represented his home country at the World Championships in 1986 and 1989. In addition, in 1989 he finished second at the national championships. In road races he came into the international public eye for the first time with a tenth place in the overall ranking of the Giro d'Italia in 1988 . Between 1993 and 1995 he started as an amateur before he was offered a professional contract again . Various other successes followed, with Maurizio Vandelli dominating especially in races in Austria . For example, he won the Uniqa Classic three times in a row - as the only athlete in the history of this competition. In the Tour of Austria he was able to record a stage and an overall victory as well as win the mountain classification twice and in the Tour of Styria he secured two stage successes and the overall classification in one year.
