Cali (musician)
Cali (born June 28, 1968 in Perpignan ; actually Bruno Caliciuri ) is a French singer-songwriter . Stylistically, he moves between nouvelle chanson and rock music .
biography
Bruno Caliciuri was born in Perpignan, France, in 1968 and later moved with his family to Vernet-les-Bains in the canton of Prades in the Pyrenees . Although he was a teenager already in rock music like The Clash or Simple Minds interested but wanted pro - rugby players are. The duo played for several years at Club Le Mediator in Perpignan. Appearances in the opening act for Bénabar and Brigitte Fontaine brought Cali national fame and an appearance at the Francofolies Festival in 2002 brought him a contract with the French independent label Labels Music , a sub-label of EMI France .
Cali's debut album L'Amour parfait was released in August 2003, critics compared Cali's music with that of Christophe Miossec . At the end of 2004 the DVD Plein de vie was released , a recording of a concert at the Club Bataclan in Paris on May 26, 2004. In January 2005, Cali made a headline appearance at the Paris Olympia . His second album Menteur followed in October 2005. In summer 2006 he played in the film musical Magique! with and was featured on the soundtrack album of the same name . In 2008 the third studio album L'Espoir followed . In 2009, Cali was part of the cast of The Hyènes project , which also included members of Noir Désir . In the fall of 2009, the project went on a month-long tour of France, performing cover versions of AC / DC , Iggy Pop and The Stooges, as well as interpretations of Cali songs. On October 21, 2009, the group played in Bataclan . In 2010 Cali's third album La vie est une truite arc-en-ciel qui nage dans mon cœur was released . In March 2011 a tour of French Zéniths began . Cali's last studio album to date, Vernet-les-Bains , was released in autumn 2012 and is dedicated to his hometown. On January 24, 2013 he became an honorary citizen of Vernet-les-Bains.
Awards
Cali was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique - the French version of the Grammy - in the Artist of the Year 2004 category. In 2005 he was nominated in the categories Male Artist of the Year and Song of the Year (for Pensons à l'avenir ) as well as for the Concert of the Year . In 2006 Menteur was nominated for Pop / Rock Album of the Year , and in 2009 Cali won this award for his album L'Espoir .
In 2004 Cali won the Prix Constantin and the Prix Vincent Scotto of SACEM for the most popular song of the year ( C'est quand le bonheur ? , the first title of the debut album L'amour parfait ).
Cali's first three studio albums each achieved platinum status in France , the fourth gold in 2010.
