Urs Zimmermann (born November 29, 1959 in Mühledorf , Canton Solothurn ) is a former Swiss cyclist .
Career
Zimmermann began his professional career in 1983 with the Swiss team Cilo-Aufina . In his second year as a professional he was able to win the Tour de Suisse with a lead of 2:18 minutes over Acácio da Silva . In the following years he was able to win stages and entire races, like the Dauphiné Libéré . In 1986 he became Swiss road racing champion. In 1992 Zimmermann ended his career. In 2001 his autobiographical novel Im Seitenwind was published.
Zimmermann lives with his wife and daughter in the canton of Aargau and works as a computer scientist.
