Vladimir Alexandrowitsch Karpez ( Russian Владимир Александрович Карпец ; mostly in the media: Vladimir Karpets ; born September 20, 1980 in Leningrad ) is a former Russian cyclist . Often his surname is also given after the English and French transcription with carpets .

Career

In 2004 he won the Vuelta a La Rioja and the white jersey of the best young professional at the Tour de France . In 2007 he was victorious in the Tour of Catalonia and the Tour de Suisse . His best results include seventh place at the Giro d'Italia 2005 and eighth and seventh places at the Vuelta a España in 2006 and 2007

After the 2013 season, Karpez was no longer a member of an international cycling team .

In the course of the doping investigation by the Public Prosecutor of Padua at the end of 2014, he was suspected of having been a customer of the controversial sports medicine specialist Michele Ferrari .
