Henk Lubberding (born August 4, 1953 in Voorst ) is a former Dutch cyclist .

Cycling career

In 1976, Henk Lubberding was third in the Tour de l'Avenir as an amateur . The following year he turned pro and drove for Peter Post's TI-Raleigh team . Throughout his active career until 1992, he drove in teams led by Post. In 1978 and 1979 he was the Dutch road racing champion.

Also in 1978 Lubberding won a stage in the Tour de France , was the first to cross the Cormet de Roselend , finished eighth in the overall standings and won the white jersey for the best young professional. During the 1983 tour , Lubberding brought down French driver Michel Laurent on the final sprint of stage 16 and was the first to cross the finish line. Laurent, who broke his hand in this action, was declared the winner. In total, Lubberding took part in the tour 13 times. He was considered a " noble water carrier ".

In the following years Lubberding achieved numerous top positions in renowned races such as the victory at Gent – ​​Wevelgem (1980), the Ronde van Midden-Zeeland (1982), the Eight van Chaam (1983) and the Tour of Norway (1985). He achieved a total of 58 victories.

The Henk Lubberding Classic race takes place annually in the Netherlands and was held for the 13th time in 2009. It runs 121.5 kilometers through Gelderland and touches Germany. Job and family
