Louis Motké

Louis Motké (born May 31, 1918 in Roermond , † December 20, 1988 in Maastricht ) was a Dutch cyclist .

Louis Motke began his cycling career as an amateur at the velodrome of Roermond, where he was very popular with viewers. He drove single pursuit and two-man team driving , together with Piet Gommans . In 1936 he failed to qualify for the Olympic Games in Berlin. The following year he switched to the professionals. In 1940 and 1941 he was Dutch road racing champion.

After finishing his cycling career in 1949, Motké ran a furniture shop in his hometown Roermond. He is the grandfather of the Dutch amateur racing driver Ritchie Motké .
