Maarten den Bakker (born January 26, 1969 in Abbenbroek ) is a Dutch cyclist .

Den Bakker began his professional career at PDM-Concorde in 1990 , after winning the road racing championship the year before. From 1993 to 1997 he drove at TVM until he came to Rabobank . In 1999 the Bakker became Dutch champion in road racing, and in time trial he achieved this title in 2003. He has already won stages in the Tour of Luxembourg , the Tour de l'Avenir , the Tour of the Netherlands and most recently the Tour of Austria in 2005 . Den Bakker has already participated in the Tour de France nine times and made it to Paris every time. In 1998 and 1999 he showed himself to be very strong in the hilly spring classics. He finished second and fourth in the Amstel Gold Race , as well as in the Flèche Wallone and achieved third place in Liège – Bastogne – Liège . In September 2008 he ended his active career as a professional cyclist.
