Jan Nolten
Jan Nolten (born January 20, 1930 in Sittard-Geelen ; † July 13, 2014 there ) was a Dutch cyclist and national champion in cycling .
Athletic career
After some success as an amateur , he joined the independents in 1951 , and a year later he became a professional driver with a contract in the Locomotief-Wego team , which was headed by Kees Pellenaars . He was a strong stage driver. Five times he rode the Tour de France , in 1954 , he was 14 and otherwise always came in the top 30 drivers. In 1952 and 1953 he was able to win one stage each. He took part in the Giro d'Italia three times, his best result was 34th place in 1957 , in 1956 he won a stage. In 1955 he retired at his only start in the Vuelta a España . His most significant success in a one-day race was winning the Dutch amateur championship in 1951.

Professional
Immediately after the end of his career, Nolten founded a transport company in his hometown.
