Patrick Alexander Jonker (born May 25, 1969 in Amsterdam ) is a former Australian-Dutch cyclist and today's team manager.

Cycling career

As an amateur, Patrick Jonker drew attention to himself in 1991 by winning a stage of the Milk Race . His greatest successes during his professional career from 1993 to 2004 were victories at the Route du Sud in 1997, the Grand Prix de Wallonie in 1998 and the Tour Down Under 2004. In 1998 he was also the Dutch champion in the individual time trial .

Patrick Jonker started twice at the Olympic Games; 1992 in Barcelona and 1996 in Atlanta , where he finished eighth in the individual time trial.

Five times - in 1994 and 1996 to 1999 Jonker took part in the Tour de France . His best finish was 12th on the 1996 Tour , one place behind Miguel Indurain .

Personal and professional

Patrick Jonker was born in the Netherlands and grew up in Australia, but kept both nationalities. His father was Dutch, his mother a German from Berlin.

After winning the Tour Down Under in 2004, Jonker ended his active career. In 2010 he was the manager of the Australian team "Virgin Blue RBS Morgans".
