Stef Clement (born September 24, 1982 in Tilburg ) is a former Dutch cyclist .
Athletic career
In 2002, Clement became Dutch champion in the U23 individual time trial and in 2003 he won his first international cycle race with a stage of the Olympia's Tour . He then moved from Van Hemert Groep Cycling to the Rabobank junior team , for which he won the overall ranking of the Olympia's Tour in 2005. In 2006, Clement received his first contract with a UCI ProTeam with the French team Bouygues Télécom and stayed there until the end of the 2008 season.
Clement's greatest successes included stage wins at the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré in 2009 and the Volta a Catalunya in 2014. He was also particularly successful in time trials: up to 2016, he was the Dutch elite time trial champion four times, won the Chrono des Nations in 2008 and won the bronze medal at the 2007 Road World Championships . Clement started at Grand Tours 18 times . His best placement was 18th in the overall ranking of the Tour de France 2016 and 13th in the Giro d'Italia 2017 .
After the end of the 2018 season, Clement ended his active career for health reasons and became a supervisor with tasks in marketing and nutrition for his last team Lotto NL-Jumbo (formerly Rabobank or Belkin-Pro Cycling Team ), where he, with the exception of 2015 and 2016 since 2009.
