Theofiel (Theo) Middelkamp (born February 23, 1914 in Nieuw-Namen , † May 2, 2005 in Kieldrecht ) was a Dutch cyclist. Middelkamp was a four-time Dutch champion, world champion and in 1936 the first Dutchman to win a stage in the Tour de France .

Middelkamp took part in the Tour of France twice during his career. When the journalist Joris van den Bergh approached him for the first time about participating in the 1936 Tour , he replied: “But Joris, I've never seen a mountain.” Middelkamp started and on July 14, 1936, won the seventh Stage from Aix-les-Bains to Grenoble , on which, among other things, the ascent to the Col du Galibier had to be mastered. In the final ranking he finally took 23rd place.

When he took part for the second time in 1938 , Middelkamp was also the first to finish the seventh stage (from Bayonne to Pau ). At the end of the tour he came in 43rd place.

Middelkamp celebrated the greatest success of his career in 1947 at the road cycling world championship in Reims , where he was the first Dutchman to win the world championship title in road racing. He had already won the silver medal in 1936 , and in 1950 he finished second again.

In 1945 he also won the Nationale Sluitingsprijs race .
