Georges Ronsse

Georges Ronsse (born March 4, 1906 in Antwerp , † July 4, 1969 in Berchem ) was a Belgian cyclist .

Georges Ronsse belonged to the Belgian cycling elite between the two world wars. From 1926 to 1938 he drove as a professional . In 1925 he won the prestigious Liège – Bastogne – Liège race . In 1927 he won the classics Bordeaux – Paris and Paris – Roubaix ; Another victory at Paris-Brussels followed in 1928 .

In the same year, Ronsse became the professional road world champion in Budapest with the greatest advantage ever of 17:33 minutes; out of 16 starters only eight finished. He was able to successfully defend this title a year later in Zurich . In 1930 Ronsse achieved another victory in the Bordeaux – Paris cycle race; in the same year he finished third at the road world championships . In 1933 he was third on the Tour of Belgium .

Ronsse also drove as a stayer on the track and was three times (1934, 1935, 1936) national champion and twice third in world championships in this discipline.

Ronsse was also active as a cyclocross driver in three races between 1928 and 1931 and was able to drive among the top three at the Critérium International de Cyclo-cross in 1928, 1930 and 1931.
