Henri Cornet (ca.1905)

Henri Jardy, called Cornet, (born August 4, 1884 in Desvres , † March 18, 1941 in Prunay-le-Gillon ) was a French cyclist .

Henri Cornet became famous when he won the 1904 Tour de France at the age of just under 20 . However, he only won this victory on the green table when the top four of the overall ranking could be proven to have cheated. They had taken short cuts or traveled the distance by train. Maurice Garin (winner of the 1903 tour ), Lucien Pothier , César Garin and Hippolyte Aucouturier were disqualified .

Cornet is still the youngest winner of the Tour de France (as of 2019). Despite this success and victory in the one-day race Paris – Roubaix in 1906 , Cornet was not among the elite of cycling at the time.
