Innovations
In 1930 the Tour de France took place for the first time with national teams. Since no more sponsors came up for the financing of the teams to z. B. To pay for the hotels and the material, Henri Desgrange created the advertising caravan ( caravane publicitaire ). From now on, the tour management also had to provide the bikes so that all riders were on the same bikes.
Race course
On the first stage in the Pyrenees to Luchon , the Frenchman André Leducq won the yellow jersey of the overall leader and was able to defend it until the finish in Paris , although he crashed badly on the descent from Col du Galibier .
In the end, in addition to the winner, the French team provided a total of six of the top ten drivers in the overall standings and achieved the greatest number of stage wins. Charles Pélissier alone had eight daily victories, and he was able to enter the list of winners four times in a row on the last stages.
