The Henri Desgrange monument at the Col du Galibier

The souvenir Henri Desgrange is a special ranking in the Tour de France in honor of the former cyclist and first tour director Henri Desgrange .

It is always deployed on the Col du Galibier . If the Col du Galibier is not part of the route in one year, the prize is regularly awarded at the highest point of the tour of that year. The driver who is the first to reach the mountain classification will receive prize money of € 5000 (as of 2019). In 2012, the evaluation took place on the 2067 m high Col de la Croix de Fer , while the souvenir Jacques Goddet was awarded on the 2115 m high Col du Tourmalet . In 2015, the evaluation took place on the Col d'Allos , as the Col du Galibier was not passable due to the risk of collapse in the tunnel on the descent. On the 19th stage of the 2019 Tour de France , the special classification will be held on the 2770 m high Col de l'Iseran , although the Col du Galibier will be driven the day before.
