The list of mountain price winners on the Col du Tourmalet names those cyclists who in the respective year, as part of the Tour de France , were the first to reach the top of the pass and thus the mountain classification on the Col du Tourmalet ( 2115  m ). Since 2001, the Bergpreis winner has received the special souvenir Jacques Goddet award .

1910 was in the French Pyrenees situated Col du Tourmalet be the first high mountain - pass incorporated de in the route map of the tour France and happened since then 78 times. In addition, the summit of the Tourmalet was the destination of a mountain arrival in 1974 , 2010 and 2019 . In the first two years mentioned, the Tourmalet was on the program twice and was run over again after arrival.

The top of the pass is crossed in an east-west direction by the national road 918 . In the west, the ascent begins in Luz-Saint-Sauveur ( 1405  m ). From there it is 18.4 kilometers to the pass with an average gradient of 7.6% and a maximum gradient of 10.2%. From the east the ascent starts in Ste. Marie de Campan ( 1270  m ) and has a length of 17.1 kilometers with an average of 7.4% and a maximum of 10% gradient. Both climbs are rated with the highest level of difficulty, Hors Catégorie .

The first rider on the Col du Tourmalet was the French Octave Lapize . The only driver with four mountain prizes is the Spaniard Federico Bahamontes . Three times each, Lucien Van Impe , Julio Jímenez and Jean Robic made it to the top of the pass first. The French, 19 Belgians, 18 Spaniards and nine Italians have been successful on the pass 27 times (as of 2012).

In three of the stages, one stage ended in La Mongie , a ski resort on the route that can be reached when approaching from the east. The finish line at an altitude of 1715 meters is reached after 12.8 kilometers with an average gradient of 6.8%.

  1. National teams competed in the Tour de France in 1930 for the first time. Tour director Henri Desgrange was inspired by the Tennis Davis Cup and so 40 professionals in 5 national teams and 60 touring truck drivers from regional teams started as individual starters in Paris.
