Race course
Nicolas Frantz from Luxembourg scored a start-to-finish victory: after winning the first stage, he never gave up the yellow jersey until Paris and managed to repeat his victory from the previous year .
Frantz's victory was in danger on the 19th stage from Metz to Charleville-Mézières when his bicycle frame broke around 100 kilometers from the finish . With the bike of a spectator that was too small for Frantz, he covered the way to the stage destination. He lost 28 minutes, but was able to maintain the lead in the overall standings.
The 36-year-old Victor Fontan won the 387 km long queen stage of the 1928 Tour to Luchon . The second in the overall standings, André Leducq , was able to look forward to four stage wins. With Maurice De Waele in third place overall, all podium places were awarded to drivers of the Alcyon – Dunlop team.
