Žleby Castle (German Schleb ) is located in Žleby in Okres Kutná Hora in the Czech Republic .

history

The early Gothic castle from the year 1289 of the Lords of Lichtenburg became a Renaissance castle after being destroyed by the Hussites in the middle of the 15th century . In 1730 Josef Franz Graf von Schönfeld bought the Schleb estate. In the middle of the 18th century it was redesigned in the high baroque style . Vinzenz Karl von Auersperg and his architects F. Schmoranz and B. Škvor later rebuilt the castle again, but without paying attention to the original architectural style.

Today the castle is owned by the state. Valuable armor and many cutting and stabbing weapons are worth seeing. The historical furniture is complemented by successful imitations from the 19th century.
