Haimar Zubeldia Agirre (born April 1, 1977 in Usurbil , Gipuzkoa ) is a former Spanish cyclist .

Career

The Basque Zubeldia became a professional at Euskaltel-Euskadi in 1998 and drove there up to and including the 2008 season. His breakthrough came in 2000 when he won the overall ranking of the Euskal Bizikleta and was second in the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré and tenth in the Vuelta a España . In 2004 he was fourth in the Dauphiné Libéré, where he also won the junior competition. At the Tour de France 2003 he placed for the first time in the top five of the overall ranking of a Grand Tour . By 2014 he had four more placements in the top ten of the Tour de France .

After the Clásica San Sebastián 2017 , where he finished 29th, he ended his career as an active.

family

Haimar's younger brother Joseba was also a cyclist.
