The TV 1875 Paderborn is a sports club from Paderborn . Among other things, it operates and promotes popular and competitive sports, leisure activities and international encounters. It also offers a comprehensive range of training courses in 16 departments and almost 30 sports and health courses for members and non-members. The association has over 3000 members.

The women in the roller hockey department are currently playing in the 1st Bundesliga and were fifth in the 2004/05 season. Margit Budde from the fencing department became European champion in saber fencing among seniors with the women's national team in 2004.

The TV 1875 Paderborn was created in 1949 from the merger of TSV Germania from 1875 Paderborn of the Jahn Paderborn gymnastics club . A sports club was founded in 1875 under the name Allgemeine Turnverein Paderborn . In 1890 it was renamed the Turnverein Germania . After the Second World War , the club was re-established in 1946 as the Paderborn gymnastics and games club . Two years later it was renamed again to TSV Germania from 1875 Paderborn . The gymnastics club Jahn Paderborn was founded under this name in 1890. In 1919 he merged with SV Westfalia to form the Paderborn Gymnastics and Sports Association . However, this merger was separated again after four months. After the Second World War, the club was re-founded in 1946 as a gymnastics community in 1890 and renamed again in 1948 as the Jahn Paderborn gymnastics club .

Since autumn 2007 the club has been at home in the newly built sports and meeting center in Goldgrund. There, the club offers its athletes its own fitness studio called Top Vita, various sports rooms, a sports hall that can be variably divided in size, as well as a bistro, a climbing wall and offices.

Budo

In the Budo department , the athletes from Judo , Aikido and Ju-Jutsu are grouped together who have achieved regional and national successes. Markus Buthe took 1st place in the NRW state championships in the 2007, 2008 and 2011 ju-jutsu fighting seasons. In 2011 Buthe also took first place at the individual group championships in Hanau and was West German champion in the senior weight category -85 kg for his TV.

The club's ice sports department ESC Paderborn was founded in spring 2009 and has its training facility in the ice rink in Paderborn-Mönkeloh, which opened in autumn 2008. Since 2011, the ice hockey team has been unofficially using the name Paderborn Panther , which was suggested by fans. The department consists of two branches: figure skating and ice hockey. The ice hockey division consists of a men's team, a hobby team and youth teams.

The men's team started in 2009 in the regional league NRW, the lowest division. The first game took place on October 25, 2009 at SV Brackwede . The ESC Paderborn lost the game 5: 6. From 2014 the Paderborn team played in the NRW League after the club had submitted a corresponding application. There the Paderborn team came fourth straight away. For the 2015/16 season, the ESC was divided into the Regionalliga West, where the Paderborn runners-up behind the Herford EV . As fourth of the 1st League West Cup, the ESC Paderborn qualified for the third-class Regionalliga West. However, the club renounced the place in the highest league in North Rhine-Westphalia because the Paderborn team did not have the required two youth teams. In the 2016/17 season, the ESC Paderborn will start in the district league.

Former DEL players play with Artjom Kostyrev and Steve Themm for the ESC Paderborn.

Awards

The Sportjugend NRW and the Kreissportbund Paderborn awarded the TV the title "child-friendly sports club" on May 15, 2011 and recognized the cooperation between the club and the two neighboring daycare centers "St.Franziskus" and "St.Hedwig", each of which was certified as an activity kindergarten . In the future, the association and day-care centers want to enable joint activities for the children in the facilities.
