Omer Taverne (born July 22, 1904 in Waudrez , † October 10, 1981 in Dax ) was a Belgian cyclist .

In 1922 and 1926, Omer Taverne won his home race Binche-Tournai-Binche as an amateur , which was held just a few kilometers from his birthplace. From 1927 to 1936 he was a professional , he was considered a sprinter. In 1924 he won Liège-Malmedy-Liège and came third in the same year at Brussels-Paris . He started twice in the Tour de France : in 1929 , although he was not part of a team that year, he won the third stage and was 21st in the overall standings, in 1930 he won the fourth stage. In 1930 he won the championship in Zurich .

After finishing his cycling career, Taverne, whose parents came from France, opened a bicycle shop in Paris .
