Arthur Vanderstuyft (born December 23, 1883 in Essen , † May 6, 1956 in Borgerhout, Antwerp ) was a Belgian racing cyclist .

Arthur Vanderstuyft came from a cycling family. His father Fritz was third in the Belgian road championships in 1899 and had taken part in the Bordeaux – Paris and Paris – Roubaix races; Arthur's brother, Léon , who was seven years his junior , became world champion as a stalker. Arthur Vanderstuyft, who was a more versatile driver than his brother, failed to achieve this great success.

In 1901 Arthur Vanderstuyft was third in the Belgian road championships, and in 1903 he won the road title. In 1904 and 192 he won the Belgian championship title in the professional standing race . Twice, in 1904 in London and in 1908 in Leipzig-Lindenau , he was third in each case at the World Standing Championships, in 1906 he won the title of Vice World Champion in Geneva .

Arthur Vanderstuyft, known as "Ijzeren Tuur" ("Iron Tuur (short for Arthur)") also started in ten six-day races . In 1904 he took second place in New York with John Stol and in 1912 in Brussels with Cyrille Van Hauwaert .

During the First World War , Vanderstuyft made himself unpopular in Belgium because he continued to race in Germany. In 1923 he had to give up cycling after breaking his kneecap because a dog ran onto the cycling track while training. His pacemaker was seriously injured in the accident. He could not gain a foothold as a pacemaker, so Arthur Vanderstuyft became the agent for fabrics as an employee of his brother-in-law.

On the occasion of his 50th anniversary as a racing driver, a celebration was held for Vanderstuyft (1955 or 1956) in the Antwerp Sportpaleis. His son Freddy was also active as a youth racing driver in a club team under Fred De Bruyne .
