Jules Degeetere

Jules Degeetere (born April 7, 1876 in Rumbeke , † February 10, 1957 in Saint-Gillis ) was a Belgian cyclist .

Jules Degeetere was a professional from 1896 to 1900. Degeetere was considered one of the best Belgian racing drivers of his generation, together with Cyrille Van Hauwaert and Odiel Defraeye , although he never achieved their success. His younger brother Gustave was also a professional cyclist, but died at the age of 25.

In 1899 Degeetere became Belgian road racing champion and then moved to Brussels to work as a butcher. But he couldn't gain a foothold there and changed his address ten times alone. In 1957 he was found dead in Saint-Gillis.
