André Vlayen

André Vlayen (born March 17, 1931 in Herselt , Flanders ; † February 20, 2017 in Herselt, Flanders) was a Belgian cyclist .

In 1950 André Vlayen took second place in the overall ranking of the Tour of Belgium for amateurs. In 1952 he became a professional, in 1954 he won the Tour de l'Ouest , in 1956 the overall ranking of the Tour of Belgium and in 1958 Across Flanders . In 1956 he took third place in the Walloon Arrow . In 1956 and 1957 he was Belgian road champion. In 1956 he took part in the UCI Road World Championships and finished eleventh.

From 1959 the successes for Vlayen increasingly failed, so that he ended his career in 1962. Until his retirement he worked for the municipal administration of Merksem .
